BLOODYMINDED "Gift Givers" + Intrinsic Action "III" + Live show reminder

BloodLust! New Release:

Artist: BLOODYMINDED
Title: "Gift Givers"
Format: Compact Disc in standard jewel case
Catalog Number: B!045
Genre: Power-Electronics / Industrial Noise

“Gift Givers” is the third full-length release from BLOODYMINDED, and it follows their late-2003 single, "Mothercare," and their previous album, "True Crime" (2002). Moving on from "crime," this time the group has placed its focus on numerous other types of obsessive behaviors. A recurring theme, initiated on "Mothercare" (if not hinted at on their first CD, "Trophy"), is self-destructive behavior - particular, but certainly not exclusive to - teenage girls. As the album title hints, such dangerous behavior cuts across both sexes and all ages.

"Gift Givers" takes some of its cues from "True Crime," such as that album's deep layering of vocals. This time, however, the band takes things a step further by utilizing its international depth - creating a multi-lingual recording with English, French, and Spanish vocals. Hearkening back to "Trophy," this album mixes 10 songs in the four- to six-minute range with several of the band's trademark blast songs. A likely unexpected introductory track starts things off, while a middle passage, based on new recordings by special guest Pierpaolo Zoppo (previously of the pioneering Italian project, Mauthausen Orchestra), acts as a curious segue between the central "Pro-Ana"/"Pro-Mia" suite. Another special guest, Michael D. Williams (EyeHateGod/Outlaw Order), adds lead vocals to the key track, "Ten Suicides," which incorporates a number of true successes and near misses, and which carries the album's prevalent theme/question.

Brian Gaynor, who has worked on numerous BloodLust! recording projects, engineered the majority of the recording sessions and the ultramaximized master, and he co-produced the album with Mark Solotroff, at Alien Soundscapes, Inc., Chicago. Additional recording was completed by the band, as well as by Amadou Sall (Collapse/Treponem Pal). Veteran BloodLust! designer and former BLOODYMINDED member Megan Emish executed the exquisite packaging design.

BloodLust! New Release:

Artist: Intrinsic Action (1984 - 1995)
Title: "III"
Format: Compact Disc in standard jewel case
Catalog Number: B!050/Vestige CD 4
Genre: Power-Electronics/Industrial Noise

BloodLust! is happy to announce the release of the Intrinsic Action "III" CD. The material on this archival compact disc was recorded in Chicago, live and in the studio, between 1985 and 1987. “III” was originally released as a C-46 cassette - by the band - in April 1987, in a limited edition of 50 copies, and with a 12-page booklet. A number of the original collage-filled pages are reproduced throughout the new CD packaging. A second edition of the cassette, without the booklet, was released later that year.

The original cassette contained a complete live show recorded on February 22, 1987, at the long-gone Chicago venue, Batteries not Included. This was only the band's third show (recording projects began in 1984, although the first live show did not occur until December 1986) - their first as a two-piece - and their developing sound is laid bare on this stark recording. Tapes, tone-generator (the infamous Noise Gizmo!), public service band radio, guitar, bass, and vocals, all struggle to find their place in the mix.

The disc’s bonus studio tracks include new edits of two previously unreleased installments in the Source Control (SCTL) series. These two tracks, created in May and September 1987, are comprised of processed source material that was originally recorded in October 1985, and like previous SCTL pieces, they are influenced by the heavier soundscape-industrial music of the early- to mid-1980s.

Brian Gaynor, who has worked on several BloodLust! recording projects, engineered the ultramaximized master from December 2004 to February 2005, while Matt Hennessy added the finishing touches, at Alien Soundscapes, Inc., Chicago. Jonathan Canady returned to create the graphic design, incorporating numerous elements of the original release, while once again following the format that he established on previous Intrinsic Action archival CD releases; "II” (B!046/Vestige CD 3), “Bad Jack” (B!044/Vestige CD 5), "Five" (B!048/Vestige CD 6), and "Sado-Electronics" (B!029/Vestige CD 7).

Track listing:

1. (Intro) (03:21)
2. “The Gift of the Holy Ghost” (07:10)
3. (Segue) (02:46)

6. (Segue) (01:39)
