We had a great night at The Hideout on Halloween Eve.  Thanks to Indian and Rabid Rabbit for asking us to be a part of the annual Halloween heaviness there.  Thanks to all of our friends who came out to have a good time on Sunday!  After Steven warmed the crowd up a bit with some excellent selections (all night, actually!), we went on in front of a nice, full room.  There was a strong turnout from the noise scene here but you could tell that there was a lot of confusion within the audience, as many people were likely expecting a (doom) metal band.  But as we warmed up, so did the crowd, and within a few minutes, the energy level picked up.  As it was a Halloween celebration, we decided to go as "Early BLOODYMINDED," so we all dug out the leather, I pulled out the huge microphone snake (mid-era, really), and we even asked founding member Megan Emish (also ex-Intrinsic Action) to join us for her second show in 13 or 14 years, the last one being over 5 years ago.  "Mantra" was always her specialty and it was great to hear her screams (unaided by amplification) ripping through the air as we wrapped up our performance.  It was definitely one of my favorite sets in a LONG time, and it oddly enough even seemed to have a sort of story arc to it.  Not just the more typical "on-off-on-off" kind of thing.  Afterwards, I joined Rabid Rabbit on "Suicide Song" (AKA "Gloomy Sunday") from their forthcoming LP on BloodLust!  They sounded fantastic on Sunday... Dark and heavy as hell... And you could really hear all of the elements of their style, running from doom metal to psychedelic to even a heavy shoegazer thing.  Indian capped off the night by just annihilating the place with their caustic, ugly, blackened sound.  They were loud as hell, but their mix was actually better than at last year's show, making each part of their sound stand out, especially the blood-curdling vocals.  Cheers to Joey for the great, vivid, loud sound!
