The Fortieth Day

The Fortieth Day

The Fortieth Day is the new project featuring Isidro Reyes and Mark Solotroff of BLOODYMINDED. Our releases will be created by utilizing the live recordings of the weekly guitar, bass, and synth sessions, which we started meeting for in June of 2005. Thus far, the project has a dense, murky, heavy style, punctuated by harsh feedback and occasional rhythmic bursts, provided by the primitive drum machine programming that Isidro has been doing. Initially, these sessions were meant to result in slightly more of a "rock" project, with heavy psychedelic, drone, shoegazer, and doom leanings, but the nature of the sessions has dictated a different direction, altogether. Since initiating these sessions, recorded material has been utilized by both BLOODYMINDED - for this year's "Magnetism" CD - and by Reyes and Solotroff's minimal synth/cold wave crossover project, A Vague Disquiet. The first set of AVD songs will see the light of day on the imminent Wierd Records compilation, due out next week. The pair now intend to continue working with the hours-and-hours of recordings, creating new releases - commencing with a series of C-60 cassette tapes to be released on BloodLust! over the coming months. Live performances are also under consideration.
