Sorry about running out of steam back there... we had less Internet access - or interest in sitting in net cafes, after a few days --- then I got home, my cable was down for the best part of four days... and I came down with some nasty bronchitis... then I jumped into an intense work project.
While it is probably a bad idea to try to recapture the moment, I suppose that I will try to type a few things.
So, yeah, Glasgow - The 13th Note - was a cool show, with Messiah Complex starting the night with some pretty brutal "European" style power-electronics. The best reference that I can make is probably Control.
Seppuku came on next, and we learned that this incarnation of the band was a bit rare... more of a heavy doom meets noise thing. Definitely one of my favorite sets of the tour... and Al was mental as a front man... but only hinting at what was in-store for Newcastle.
We also had our first taste of Inseminoid that night... Lee Stokoe (Culver, Mazuraan, etc.) and George Proctor (Mutant Ape/Turgid Animal...) teaming up to do dark, heavy noise that mutated before our eyes at each succeeding show... the one consistent element was the duo being lit by a skull candle every night... and some top-of-the-charts girl-pop blasting out as they finished their set and broke down their gear.
And, finally, night one (of five) of Fecalove... with Nicola (Turgid Animal Italian Division...) introducing us to this wonderful hybrid of piercing noise and lovely Italian power-electronics... and sick sex.
The sound guy had us cranked up really nicely for the size of the subterranean live room. Everyone was pretty loud and extreme that night, come to think of it. It was nice to see even a couple of familiar faces from Saturday's Edinburgh show, too.
So, yeah, Glasgow was a great indication of what was to come.
