NYC

My trip to NYC this week went well. I was able to spend a lot of time with Messrs. Schoolwerth and Balistreri. On Tuesday night, the guys from Blacklist were spinning at Darkroom, and they played a great mix of coldwave, post-punk, death rock, etc. On Wednesday night, Column and Martial Canterel played at Midway Cafe and it was a great show. Martial Canterel sounded excellent! Sean creates his Roland Sh-101 sequences live, in the transitions between the songs, and they act as the most amazing segues. I also got to hang out with Rich (FFH) and Shane (Noizeguild) on Thursday night. I made it to the Museum of Modern Art on Wednesday, along with some Chelsea galleries on Thursday. The Cameron (nee Marjorie Cameron Parsons Kimmel) show at Nicole Klagsbrun was really interesting to see. Fans of Kenneth Anger's work should take note, as this occult-influenced artist stars in the filmmaker's 1954-66 film, "Innauguration of the Pleasure Dome." Cameron's drawings are rather dark, ritual/spiritual/dream-based pieces, filled with somewhat obsessive mark-making. The Paulina Olowska show at Metro Pictures was also interesting. Her large "coldwave" paintings are filled with references to the Polish post-punk scene, etc.

NYC, etc.

- I will be in NYC this week, from Tuesday to Friday. I just got back from sending out numerous mail-order packages. The new Slogun "Hunting Humans" CDs will be here when I get back, and hopefully the Aaron Dilloway vinyl, too, so I will fill outstanding orders awaiting those items, as quickly as I can.

Bereft liner notes

There is a possibility that some copies of the Bereft 7-inch were just mistakenly mailed out without their liner notes. If you receive a copy without the insert, please drop me a line and I will mail the page right out to you. I apologize for the inconvenience.

BLOODYMINDED "Phases : Two"

BloodLust! New Release - Out Now:

Artist: BLOODYMINDED
Title: "Phases : Two"
Format: CD-R
Catalog Number: BloodLust! 074
Genre: Noise / Experimental

Following the style of the "Phases : One" August 2006 tour cassette, "Phases : Two" continues the SCTL (Source Control) processing methodology - brought back from the Intrinsic Action era - this time applying it to live versions of "Magnetism" songs that were recorded on the August tour. The resulting 60-minute recording is characterized by a mixture of spoken voices, heavy screaming, audience member participation, out of control synthesizers, feedback, rumbling, sudden "rushing" sounds, screeching, etc., all vying for the listener's attention. The live recordings were made at: Skylab Gallery, Columbus, OH, August 3; Reversible Eye Gallery, Chicago, IL, August 4; The Church, Minneapolis, MN, August 5; Hall Mall, Iowa City, IA, August 6; Valhalla Gallery, Kansas City, MO, August 7; Spooky Action Palace, St. Louis, MO, August 8; The Frowny Bear, Lexington, KY, August 9; Red Room, Kalamazoo, MI, August 10; Behind The Green Door, Detroit, MI, August 11. For this tour, BLOODYMINDED was Nicole Chambers, Xavier Laradji, Pieter Schoolwerth, and Mark Solotroff; with Ed Knigge (Chicago), Chris Mack (Chicago), and Isidro Reyes (St. Louis). The digital transfer and the master were made in December 2006, by Jason Soliday, at Enemy, Chicago, Illinois. These professionally duplicated CD-Rs are limited to 200 numbered copies and they are packaged in black and white, double-sided, printed, fold-over sleeves, with a Tyvek inner-sleeves and a poly outer-sleeves.
