Mexico City Update 3

Beyond Belief!

Last night was definitely one of the top five BLOODYMINDED shows ever!!! Under Kabarett was such a great space... a classic goth-industrial club... when we walked in, the first that I saw was a large Bauhaus mural on one of the walls. Game on. The crowd was absolutely amazing. They looked great, and people were so cool. They were so responsive, too. I thought that the Chicago crew might have to kick-start things a bit, but the locals were totally ready, screaming right away, cheering, raising their hands... Insane!!! The mix of bands/performers was great... heavy breakcore, power-noise, experimental noise... The night could not have gone better.

We left the club at about 5:00 AM, and went with a group of about a dozen people to yet another great taqueria, with outdoor seating and a delicious varient on a taco/tostada, called a volcan. The ride home to our hotel was completely beyond insane. We were piled into a Honda Accord coupe, racing through the streets at 6:30 AM, listening to Mad Professor, running red light after red light, when suddenly a police car pulled into the intersection. We nearly broadsided it, and the guy driving us just bolted! Our speed increased as we wound through traffic and along various side streets, finally outrunning or just losing the cops. What a way to end the night. The ride to the club took about 30 minutes, but that race home only lasted about 10.

Tonight is show two... My god, how can we up the ante???

For now, we are off to El Chopo, the big Saturday heavy metal and punk outdoor market...

Mexico City Update 2

We have been keeping ultra-busy here, both with festival activities, and with things like climbing pyraminds (beyond belief!), taste testing tacos and guacamole, riding insanely crowded subways, combing through street markets filled with counterfeit and bootleg goods, etc.

Our lecture seemed to go pretty well yesterday and we are really psyched to play our first of two shows, tonight. Tomorrow, we plan to go to the big punk/metal outdoor market at El Chopo.

Typing kind of sucks on this Spanish keyboard and the hotel computers are sort of slow...

More news soon...

Mexico City Update 1

Just a few quick words on our second morning, before Isidro, Heber, and I head out to the pyramids. An update for the Saturday has been posted on the noise board. That show is now set. We are not, hover, playing in Toluca on Sunday. Bad news, in one sense, but that frees us up for something else in DF, like a bullfight, if possible!

The RAWBITS people have been amazing hosts, from the outset. They have been taking great care of us and the events have been really cool so far.

Look up the Savoy, in Mexico City. BLOODYMINDED ended up there at the end of the first night. Weird burlesque joint, but on Tuesday night, it was only guys dancing with women, for tips... ultra creepy!

Last Minute Details For Mexico

Here is a repeat, in part, of previously posted information:

BLOODYMINDED is heading down to Mexico City tomorrow, as part of the Chicago r4wb1t5 Macrofest, featuring numerous audio/visual artists from Chicago, in conjunction with likeminded artists from Mexico City.

Our first show in DF is as part of the festival. We are also playing additional shows in DF and Toluca, which - down to the wire - are still being sorted out.

I anticipate that being in a crowd of heavy-duty computer users, I will have some Internet access during the trip. If possible, I will try to post some updates here and on the noise board...

Thanks!

P.S. Mail-Order will be suspended until after I return on Thursday June 28
