M.O. at Crosstalk

The M.O. "Where Are We Going?" CD is now also available through Crosstalk, a Chicago-based export distributor that is probably familiar to Wire magazine readers. For those who are still curious, since the CD is a Crosstalk featured release for the following week, short samples of each track will be online (at least temporarily) here

OUT NOW: B!107 The Fortieth Day "III" CD

BloodLust! New Release - Out Now:

Artist: The Fortieth Day
Title: "III"
Format: CD
Catalog Number: BloodLust! 107
Genre: Noise / Experimental / Industrial
CD edition of out-of-print cassette, originally released in a numbered edition of 50 copies in 2006; The Fortieth Day is the duo of Isidro Reyes and Mark Solotroff, both key players in the power-electronics outfit BLOODYMINDED, a unit known for its confrontational live shows. Here, Solotroff and Reyes show off their kinder, gentler side, using guitar, bass, and synth to improvise "sustained, withering blasts of high-pitched noise that are as distinct from one another as spotlights sweeping across the night sky; jackhammer clatter, jet-engine whines, and forlorn keyboard melodies dart in and out of those huge sounds with the grace and impunity of plovers picking a crocodile's teeth" [Bill Meyer, Chicago Reader]. Professionally duplicated CD, single panel, double-sided insert; black and white artwork; in jewel box with shrinkwrap; Released in 2008

$14.00 USA/$17.00 World @ postpaid
Please use bludlust@mindspring.com for PayPal payments, or make money orders payable to: MARK SOLOTROFF (not BloodLust!)

Wholesale rate available to distributors, mail-order services, and record stores. Please inquire.

Aurora Borealis

I just added a link for Aurora Borealis in the distro section as they will soon be stocking select BloodLust! titles in their online shop. Also look out for recent AB releases by friends like Burial Hex and Marzuraan -- not to mention Wraiths -- who Tim Holehouse played for us in Edinburgh... intense!

Metal +

I went to see Velnias and Nadja last night, at The Empty Bottle. It was nice to run into so many friends at the club, after making the rainy, chilly, bus trek over there. Velnias definitely benefited from the great PA, and their sound was clear, balanced, loud, and intense. The vocals made a much greater impact than when I saw them at Ronny's on Easter. Nadja could have been a lot louder... I wanted that overload... but the pair still got across the doomy, psychedelic, shoegazer mood in pretty fine form.

Old Review of Dilloway 7-inch

Here is a previously unseen (by me) review of the now-sold-out Aaron Dillow private series 7-inch from Delusions of Adequacy / Small Wonders online zine:

Aaron Dilloway - White Hair/Amputation 7"

Bloodlust! (www.bloodlust.blogspot.com)

Aaron Dilloway used to be in Wolf Eyes until 2005 when he departed to make noise on his own and was replaced by Hair Police's Mike Connelly. Since that time he's been busy with his label, Hanson, and releasing a slew of solo material. This 7" is one of the most soul-crushing things he's done in my opinion. It's filled with queasy analog keyboards that sound like a super-distorted version of Goblin's soundtrack to Dawn of the Dead. Absolutely essential.
