-Pelican and Sourvein
played at the Fireside last
night, with Brothers of
Conquest headlining. After
listening to the Pelican CD,
it was nice to see them live.
They remind me of Eisenvater,
Godflesh, Gore, Halo, etc.
Ed is interested in working on
a video with them... Sourvein,
no surprise, are a great cross
betwwen 13 and Buzzov-en,
etc. Heavy and powerful.
-The surprise of the night was
running into (Brutal) Chicago
resident Cowboy Sharp for the
first time..."Hi" Kevin, if you
get around to checking this out.

-Checked out the Chameleons on
Monday night, at Metro. Giving
credit where credit is due; Interpol
et. al.

-Will be attending an Ensemble
Sacres Garcons corporate gathering
in Milan next week, in order to discuss
the future of the past.

-A new song is being prepared
for our October 10th show.
Details to follow shortly...

-High on Fire and Jucifer
teamed up for an intense
show, at the Beat Kitchen,
last Thursday. Brutally
loud, and heavy as hell.
Some heshers just did not
get Jucifer, at all. Good.

-Another busy music weekend:
Wire played at Metro on Saturday
night. I last saw them in 1987,
and they showed that they can
really crank for a bunch of geezers.
As displayed on the recent "Read
& Burn" discs, they have returned
to a more stripped down guitar
assault...distorted and heavy.
Milemarker made for a smart opener,
but they got a bit tedious after
a while.
Queens of the Stone Age and
...And You Will Know Us by the
Trail of Dead played at the
Riviera on Sunday night. T.O.D.
had a nice long set, and they
seemed to have no problem
making the transition from small
clubs to a large theater stage.
They still trashed their stuff...
Q.O.T.S.A. played a big, slick
hard rock set. No surprises,
but a solid set, nonetheless.

-The Interpol show at the
Empty Bottle was hyped-up
and sold out. Their set
rivaled the first time that I
saw them at Don Hill's. I am
collecting reviews of and
articles about them that do
not mention Joy Division.
Thus far, I have zero items
in the collection. Critics are
lazy.
-Wire is playing at Metro
next Saturday night.

-Scenester girl into "goofy"
noise and experimental music;
Q&A about BLOODYMINDED:
Q: "We really like you guys
a lot, but your show was kind
of scary. I mean, are you
serious about all of that stuff?"
