Boston Marathon

BLOODYMINDED

March 14, 2008
Jacque's Underground
Boston, MA

Well, I'm still bumming about missing yesterday's show, but my trip to Boston was EXCELLENT! Major thanks to Shane Broderick for this amazing undertaking, and to all of the TDS OGF guys (Shane, Ted, and Josh... + Jenna, of course!) for showing us such a great time and for being so hospitable. We really appreciate that you thought to bring us out there. The choice to hold the shows at Jacque's was brilliant. The after-party upstairs on Friday was as fun as the show downstairs.

Thanks to everyone who was there, for the amazing energy and enthusiasm while we played. It was great to see several out-of-town friends there... from New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, in particular -- and it was so nice to spend time with some of our Boston and Providence friends -- and to meet so many new folks, too. The quick trip ranged from the cultural -- a nice afternoon at the Museum of Fine arts -- to the posh -- sipping absinthe with Ms. Rylan at a swank cocktail lounge -- to the lowbrow -- various, I mean, shit, think about who we were with... It was also great to finally see some of the newer power-electronics groups that I have only heard a little bit from, thus far. Friday was marked by one intense, brutal set after another. It was no small feat getting up on stage after such hardcore sets. From Sharpwaist's crushing opener... holy fuck, when things kicked in, my stomach went up into my throat! Getting to play with Karlheinz again after several years was a treat. Cathode Terror Secretion are causing me to re-evaluate my thoughts on laptops and p.e. I mean, the set was unrelenting and harsh, period. And even with the power cutting out (too powerful for power-electronics?), Twodeadsluts Onegoodfuck once again proved why they are at the top of this game. Fucking cruel, brutal sound mixed with a physically unmatchable stage show.

Fatalities: One (1) cheap Target rolling suitcase, one (1) Mackie 1202 mixer (which has survived since about 1995), one (1) H&M black long-sleeve T-shirt, one (1) right hand. I still have not tested out the synth that Pieter played and I am a bit scared to do so...
