BloodLust! Interview Series: #6 Mike IX Williams (EyeHateGod)

Mike IX Williams - EyeHateGod, Outlaw Order, Arson Anthem (also appears on the BLOODYMINDED "Gift Givers" CD)

1. What have you been listening to lately?

Mike IX: All kinds of the usual shit such as Double Negative, Cut Sick, Vile Nation, Straightjacket Nation and other very old smooth classics like Sex Pistols, Dead Boys, Pagans, Warhammer, Middle Class, SPK, Die Kreuzen et al...It's ALL killer stuff. The list could go on FOREVER.

2. Have you been to any interesting concerts recently?

Mike IX: First and foremost, one of the best shows I've seen recently was the Butthole Surfers do only songs from the first few albums, Celtic Frost reunion + a Jerry Lee Lewis gig ... all some amazing shows....besides those; BludWulf and Cop on Fire was another, Roky Erickson put on a fucking killer show with the Explosions, a shitload of local New Orleans groups like HellKontroll, A Hanging, Haarp, Evil Army, Hawgjaw, Pallbearers...and on and on...

3. Can you name a favorite film, or two (or a television program), from the last few months?

Mike IX: The Wire and The Shield are fuckin brilliant, didn't catch them when they were on the air but I'm renting 'em all now; also Chopper - the Aussie outlaw crime drama film - AMAZING...The History of Violence & Eastern Promises are great, Cronenberg is fantastic as ALWAYS! Iron Man is a terrific movie as well since I'm a Marvel Comics freak.

4. Have you read a good book lately?

Mike IX: The Vice Guide to Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll. Period.

5. Have you attended any recent art shows worth mentioning?

Mike IX: A local Punk Rock flyer art show and the drunken performance art of that fucking insane jackass homeless guy down on Decatur and Toulouse streets. He'll be famous one day. Also does staring at the floor count as art?

6. Do you have any current obsessions of note?

Mike IX: Too many to count....

7. Please tell me what recordings, projects (any medium), etc., you are working on right now, if anything

Mike IX: The Arson Anthem 17 song full length is almost finished, I've also got two new dark negative poetry books as yet untitled that need to be edited down, some artwork in the newest Timeless magazine, a spoken word/noise 7" for Chrome Peeler, recordings with a techno/electrix duo called The Guilt Of..., the Outlaw Order new full length LP Dragging Down the Enforcer is out now as is the second edition of my first book - Cancer as a Social Activity. Besides that stuff, as always, live shows all over with EyeHateGod, 00%, Arson Anthem and hopefully The Guilt Of...

8. What do you hope to accomplish this year?

Mike IX: As much as physically possible. I feel this is going to be a great year. After some of the trouble I've had in the past I want to move forward and I actually have a new positive outlook on things.

9. Is there anything else that you would like to mention, announce, or hype?

Mike IX: Well, I'm working for Phil Anselmo's Housecore Records and also Nocturnal Records and we are gonna be releasing alot of killer albums, cd's, and merchandise this year. We just put out the Christ Inversion cd and coming up soon is the aforementioned Arson Anthem 17 song lp, plus the Evil Army record, Soilent Green-the Glen Rambo years, The Manson Family soundtrack, Body & Blood, The Sursiks lp + a whole lot more. Also the Housecore website is being re-built and will feature streaming Housecore Radio TV with artists from the label. Hopefully I'll have time to get Southern Nihilism Front Radio rolling steady soon and also work on putting SouthernNihilismFront.com back online again. Nocturnal will be putting out the Marginal Way lp out next month on which I've done guest vocals on two tracks. I also did a short vocal spot on the latest If He Dies, He Dies lp. AANNND I'm still occasionally writing for different music publications although not as much as I'd like or can find time for. Whew. I'm sure I've forgotten a bunch of stuff, but thats the most of it.
Thanks for asking Mark, much love and success with BloodLust in the future!
