BloodLust! is pleased to announce the new Neil Jendon CD, "Cities In Flight," the striking follow-up to his 2008 release for the label, "Invisibility" [B!117]. On this new album, Jendon steers his Doepfer Analog Modular System through three carefully constructed and arranged electronic music compositions, commencing with a startling throb-throb, and working his way through loud, noisy and aggressive passages and more subtle, thoughtful, tempered segments. Jendon is a veteran of the Chicago music scene, who has shifted between roles as a psychedelically-driven guitarist in the early-90s alternative band Catherine [TVT Records], a more experimentally-minded guitarist in the avant-garde group Zelienople, and as half of Abduction [with Michael Miley], through which I first witnessed Neil's vivid modular synthesizer playing. I originally came to know Jendon in the early 1990's in his pop music guise, and after losing touch with him for a long measure of time, I have seen and heard much more of Neil's work over the last several years. I have happily witnessed a number of his excellent sets, where he has delivered the goods on bills with diverse artists including Consumer Electronics, Cadaver In Drag, Locrian, The Golden Sores, Anal Hearse, Martial Canterel, Hive Mind, BLOODYMINDED, The Fortieth Day, and Super Eight Loop. It comes as no surprise that "Cities In Flight" emerges as a pre-eminent document of where Jendon's performances have been heading lately.
