Atrax Morgue Autoerotic Death Re-Issue on Urashima

Uma 134 Atrax Morgue – Autoerotic Death  LP 21 €
Marco Corbelli’s artistic journey began in the early 90’s. Under the pseudonym of Marco Rotula, he started to release a series of fanzines in A5 format. The first was The pleasure agony, followed by Sick and Murders. The aesthetics of these first fanzines were very sophisticated and the content deals with topics that will follow Marco Corbelli throughout his artistic career: sadism, schizophrenia, insanity, murder, psychosis, necrophilia, diseases, and most importantly death. In 1993, heavily influenced by his obsessions, he began his musical activities creating the Slaughter Productions label  and the Atrax Morgue project. Greatly inspired by Italian Power Electronics act The Sodality, with their 1987 LP Beyond Unknown Pleasures and from projects as Whitehouse and Brighter Death Now, pioneers of a minimal, evil and visceral electronic, Atrax Morgue released his first tape In search of death which will be followed by a series of amazing cassettes in the following years.
In 1996, with the only help of his analog synthesizer Sequential Circuits Six-Trak, Marco Corbelli recorded four tracks of pure improvisation for the legendary noise label BloodLust! run by Mark Solotroff. The tracks are released in cassette with the title of Autoerotic Death and limited to 50 copies. The putrescence is palpable, and one could almost smell and taste the miasma of decay that pervades the entire work. The psychopathological sound is white, painful and horrific. Crosses terrifying rooms lit by neon lights, corridors filled with gruesome tools, machines of blood and bits of human tissue floating in jars of formalin. The hum of the synth is often repeated loops, where each track has a compact structure, following the main theme (of autoerotic death).
The record has been pressed on 140gr black vinyl with black label and black inner sleeve and comes in a deluxe black cardboard sleeve with logo in silver silk screen plus double side pictures (from original tape cover art) fixed on front cover LP and a small insert. Limited edition of 199 copies.

B!143 Atrax Morgue "Omicidio' 7-Inch - Front Sleeve

BloodLust! is pleased to announce the release a new single by cult Italian death-industrial act Atrax Morgue, an early member of the BloodLust! family. This release is connected to three previous Atrax Morgue releases on the label. The a-side, "Omicidio," was originally submitted to BloodLust! by Marco Corbelli [April 3, 1970 - May 6, 2007] as an alternate b-side to the "Her Guts" 7-Inch [B!039, 2005], but at the time, "Sinfonia Per Un Sadico," which Marco was still unsure of, seemed far too unique and unsettling a track to replace, so I championed its inclusion. "Omicidio" was unfortunately shelved for future use, and was left untouched until after Marco's death. I chose to resurrect the piece because it is the type of vocal-driven Atrax Morgue song that I so enjoy, and it reminds me of his excellent one-and-only USA show, a BloodLust! event held at Pyramid in New York City, on November 25,1996. For the b-side of this single, I drew from Marco's "Autoerotic Death" recording for the label. One of the earliest releases on BloodLust!, the first version was released in an edition of 50 copies in 2006 [B!006, C-30] and it sold out immediately . A second version called "Extended Autoerotic Death" [B!025] was released later that year, and the title "extended" denotes the b-side remix work that Marco asked me to do to add new material to the original recording and to lengthen the release to 60-minutes. For the b-side of this record, I went back to Marco's original recording and I found a choice segment of heavy, dark analog synth work to edit and remix. I believe that the two tracks work very well together and I am happy that the unreleased song will finally see the light of day. The records were pressed in multicolor marble vinyl that varies slightly from copy to copy, but in general, they tend to look more like dark bruises, or maybe the sick bile spit up by a dying plague victim. The glue pocket sleeves were manufactured by Imprint, a first for a BloodLust! 7-Inch, after all these years and all those singles. Pressed in an edition of 500 copies. Released in 2010.

Sneak Peek: B!146 Atrax Morgue "Omicidio" 7-Inch

B!143 Atrax Morgue "Omicidio' 7-inch = Front Sleeve

Since folks have been asking, the forthcoming Atrax Morgue 7-inch comprises an "alternative a-side" that Marco Corbelli had sent prior to the release of the "Her Guts" 7-inch (B!039). We knew that "Sinfonia Per Un Sadico" was definitely going to be the b-side, and it was a toss-up between "Her Guts" and "Omicidio," which took some time for us to resolve, as both tracks were very strong. In any case, "Omicidio" is too good to let disappear, and aspects of the song really remind me of the live Atrax Morgue show that I put on in NYC, way back when, as Marco's vocals are so prominent. The b-side is a nice, tight, and heavy edit/remix from the "Autoerotic Death" cassette (B!006). All in all, it makes a great companion to the previous Atrax Morgue 7-inch on BloodLust! More details soon...
