Saturday Night Recap

Anatomy of Habit
October 16, 2010
The Abbey Pub

"After The Water"
"Overcome"
"Then Window"

Thanks to all of our friends who came out to see/hear us on Saturday night! We appreciate your support and your enthusiasm. It was a late night, so thanks for sticking it out. Thanks also for the positive feedback that we heard regarding the new song, "Then Window." It felt good to finally play it in front of an audience... It was great to share the stage with Da! They sounded so good! Christ, who could have predicted this night - 30 years ago - when I was watching them onstage at Space Place in the Fulton Market, fearing for my safety and that of my straight-laced high school girlfriend. Cool to play with Radar Eyes again (BLOODYMINDED - 10/28/09)... Kenny sounded awesome with them on that last song, too. It was nice to meet The Green Lady Killers and to see them come forward as our set built up some steam... Also good to see some new faces among those who stuck around. Thanks to Sean and The Abbey Pub for having us back again so soon and thanks to Steve for really taking his time with us getting the sound right. See you all on 11/29 at The Empty Bottle...

From: Vocalo.org

If Riot Fest’s recent celebration of old… er, make that venerated… punks who still can deliver the goods has only left you wanting more, you need to see DA!, progenitors of the Chicago scene back in the day and a bridge between the industrial/punk/noise side of things and this city’s enduring fondness for Goth. Frontwoman Lorna Donley and her bandmates will once again tromp the boards at the Abbey Pub, sharing a bill with Radar Eyes, the Green Lady Killers, and Anatomy of Habit (plus DJ Joe Losurdo)

Flavorpill on 10/16

From Flavorpill

An important and influential fixture on the early Chicago (post) punk scene, DA had its feet planted firmly in the moment while focused on a future yet to come. DA, while influenced by psych, punk and noise, created a body of work startling in its depth and originality. The inventive rhythms of original drummer Dawn Fisher and the muscular backbeats of her successor, Robert Furem, layed a propulsive framework for the intertwined guitar work of Gaylene Goudreau and David Thomas. The angular fluidity of their interplay became the perfect backdrop for singer and bassist Lorna Donley's introspective lyricis and expressive voice. Personal and obsessive, strange yet familiar, the music of DA is ripe for re-discovery.
