The latest news from Anatomy of Habit, BLOODYMINDED, and Mark Solotroff
JUNE 29, 2020 UPDATE
I hope that this message finds everyone feeling well.
As I've been mentioning, I'm continuing to reduce my social media footprint. The Super Eight Loop Facebook page has been deactivated and I started the same process with the BloodLust! label Facebook page, as well as the profile for The Fortieth Day, which will both be deactivated in about two weeks. My goal is to focus on my own artist pages on IG/FB, as well as those for Anatomy of Habit and BLOODYMINDED. I'm encouraged by the many conversations that these updates have generated and I plan to continue trying to find ways to add value to these communications.

Anatomy of Habit formed in Chicago in October 2008 and is composed of Alex Latus (guitar), Isidro Reyes (metal percussion), Skyler Rowe (drums), Mark Solotroff (vocals), and Sam Wagster (bass + lap steel). The band encompasses elements of doom metal, post-punk, death-rock, noise-rock, industrial, psychedelic, and shoegaze. The band's last album, "Ciphers + Axioms," was released by Relapse Records.
Following a couple of changes that we requested, we're waiting for final mixes from Sanford Parker, and then we'll be moving on to mastering.
Our show with Liturgy and Leya at the Empty Bottle remains scheduled for August 21, pending changes to stay-at-home orders, Liturgy's tour plans, etc.
BLOODYMINDED is a heavy electronic band that was formed in New York, in 1995, after the dissolution of the pioneering American post-industrial noise group Intrinsic Action, which was founded by Mark Solotroff, in Chicago, in 1984. BLOODYMINDED’s live shows are exceptionally energetic and are characterized by physical engagement, layers of abrasive analog synthesizer, aggressive vocals, and abundant feedback. In a live context, BLOODYMINDED celebrate and deconstruct the rock and roll performance.
New album: The foundations of ten new songs are shaping up very nicely, as band members have been sharing their work over the past few weeks. We'll keep assembling things remotely until we're ready to head into the studio with Sanford Parker to work on "amplified" sounds, vocals, and mixing.
Live Album: We're also compiling a live anthology of recordings from our 2019 shows. It'll be titled "Synths Up!" Editing is underway now. More news about that, soon...
Ensemble Sacrés Garçons was initially billed as a collaboration between Iugula-Thor and Intrinsic Action (with support from Sshe Retina Stimulants) and we released our debut in 1995, on Old Europa Cafe.
New album: Following the mastering stage with Collin Jordan at The Boiler Room, in Chicago, our forthcoming LP, "Demonization: These Worldly Powers," was sent to Smashed Plastic, a pressing plant in Chicago that opened in 2019. Cover artwork is still in progress but we anticipate working with a Chicago screen printer on that element..
The Fortieth Day is the duo of Isidro Reyes and Mark Solotroff, both key players in the heavy-electronics outfit BLOODYMINDED, a band known for its aggressive and confrontational live shows. In The Fortieth Day, Reyes and Solotroff utilize guitar, bass, drum machine, and analog synthesizer to create epic, blackened, psychedelic-industrial drone soundscapes.
We have two new CDs out this week. They are newly remastered editions of long-out-of-print cassettes from 2007, which document our first two live shows in front of an audience, and which also include processed versions of the shows, in the vein of Intrinsic Action "SCTL" material.
Nightmares is the synth trio of Jonathan Canady (Angel of Decay, Dead World, Deathpile, etc.), David Reed (Envenomist, Imvixor, Luasa Raelon, etc.) and Mark Solotroff (Anatomy of Habit, BLOODYMINDED, The Fortieth Day, Intrinsic Action, etc.)
Nightmares "Sub-Sonic Language Transmission" Digital + Bonus Mix + PDF https://synthnightmares.bandcamp.com/album/sub-sonic-language-transmission The digital version includes a 41-minute bonus track, "A Detachment Of The Soul," which is a decidedly different sounding mega-mix of select tracks from the new album, created by David Reed. The download also contains a PDF of the companion booklet.
Super Eight Loop is series of 100 hour-long analog synth recordings by Mark Solotroff, launched in 1993. Digitization of all 100 cassettes began in December 2018 and finished in December 2019. All 100 recordings are available to stream and download, exclusively via Bandcamp.
In response to the current situation in the USA, and amidst the increasingly global fight against racial injustice, I unequivocally state that I am against the discrimination of African Americans. Further, I want to reinforce that I absolutely condemn white supremacy, racism, bigotry, chauvinism, sexism, homophobia and other oppressive beliefs.
