ANATOMY OF HABIT
Anatomy of Habit formed in Chicago in October 2008 and is composed of Alex Latus (guitar), Isidro Reyes (metal percussion), Skyler Rowe (drums), Mark Solotroff (vocals), and Sam Wagster (bass + lap steel). The band encompasses elements of doom metal, post-punk, death-rock, noise-rock, industrial, psychedelic, and shoegaze. The band's last album, "Ciphers + Axioms," was released by Relapse Records.
Practices are still on hold for us, as the "Stay at Home" order remains in place in Illinois until the end of May, but I'm working on lyrics, and we've all been listening to the mixes of our next album
Our show with Liturgy and Leya at the Empty Bottle has been rescheduled for August 21. Fingers crossed!

BLOODYMINDED
BLOODYMINDED is a heavy electronic band that was formed in New York, in 1995, after the dissolution of the pioneering American post-industrial noise group Intrinsic Action, which was founded by Mark Solotroff, in Chicago, in 1984. BLOODYMINDED’s live shows are exceptionally energetic and are characterized by physical engagement, layers of abrasive analog synthesizer, aggressive vocals, and abundant feedback. In a live context, BLOODYMINDED celebrate and deconstruct the rock and roll performance.
We've begun work on our next album. We decided to use this downtime to write... lyrics, synth parts, etc. I completed the lyrics to ten new songs, and after working through five or six drafts of each song, I finally shared them with my band mates, over the weekend. More updates on our progress will follow soon. And by the way, it won't be about isolation, quarantine, the pandemic, etc. We covered that on 2013's "Within The Walls," and Isidro and I have focused on that with The Fortieth Day since we launched in 2005...

ENSEMBLE SACRÉS GARÇONS
Ensemble Sacrés Garçons was initially billed as a collaboration between Iugula-Thor and Intrinsic Action (with support from Sshe Retina Stimulants) and we released our debut in 1995, on Old Europa Cafe.
We received our LP master from Collin Jordan at The Boiler Room and all three of us have approved it. Cover artwork is underway. Due to the pandemic, we'll need to be patient with record pressing, but we're doing everything that we can to prepare for the release of "Demonization: These Worldly Powers"...

THE FORTIETH DAY
The Fortieth Day is the duo of Isidro Reyes and Mark Solotroff, both key players in the heavy-electronics outfit BLOODYMINDED, a band known for its aggressive and confrontational live shows. In The Fortieth Day, Reyes and Solotroff utilize guitar, bass, drum machine, and analog synthesizer to create epic, blackened, psychedelic-industrial drone soundscapes.
Our new album, "Narratives Of Cultural Alienation," was completed last week and we anticipate a May 15th release date. It'll be available as a very short run of cassettes (probably an edition of 25), on CD, and on all major digital platforms.

INTRINSIC ACTION
Intrinsic Action was an industrial/power-electronics band, founded by Mark Solotroff in 1984, in Chicago, and dissolved in 1995, in New York, when BLOODYMINDED began.
Now that the 1985 self-titled CD is out, I'm excited to announce that I also spent a lot of time over the past several months going through various recordings from 1984. I edited and sequenced what I think is a strong representation of the very first steps that Intrinsic Action took, including generous sections of our 1984 demo tape and three unreleased pieces that were recorded later that year, and which were among the first 4-track cassette recordings that I made. I've shared this resulting album, in unmastered form, with band mates and close friends, and I plan to send "Early Action" to Collin Jordan at The Boiler Room, very soon, for mastering.

Paolo and I discussed this collaboration when Paolo was last in Chicago, in November 2019. He proposed creating a set of songs to go with a text that he was thinking about and that I might add images to. During this period of "shelter in place" during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been communicating on a daily basis and we certainly had the time to get to work on the music and the companion book. It turns out that Paolo wrote a short science fiction story and I was quickly able to visualize the type of images that I would source and manipulate to go with his text. For the music, Paolo sent me eight synth tracks that he wanted me to react to. His tracks seemed like "lead" tracks to me, so I created eight tracks that I thought would function more as "foundations" for each song. Paolo executed the first mix and I then did some additional processing and editing. This process was very different for us, compared to when we sent cassette tapes back and forth through the mail in 1996 to create our four-cassette box set, "Excellent Manipulation Of Distorted Tape Death," but the spirit of working together felt the same. Just faster! And maybe it seemed a bit "heavier," especially as Milan and the rest of Northern Italy was suffering such great loss during the time we were working on this together. At some point in the future, we may revisit this material to see if we want to create a physical release, but for now, we're happy to share the music and the companion PDF. Enjoy...
